It’s actually been a better week this week than last. The side effects of the treatment seem to be following a pattern: Thursday (treatment day) comes with body aches and all over rash and night sweats. Friday my head and neck (and even tongue and eyeballs are on fire (serious rash and heat). Saturday is mild, but Sunday and Monday are “stay close to the bathroom” days. Then Tuesday and Wednesday have been the best days of the week, so far. We’ll see if the pattern continues into the weeks ahead.

I had a really great treatment roommate/buddy on Thursday that taught me some great things. Donna was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2017, and after treatment, had 6 years of remission. She’s just three treatments into starting up again. She was able to tell me helpful info about her treatments and stem cell replacement therapy.

Then she taught me some things that are much more important, and much more impactful and eternal. She told me about her faith in Jesus, and how much she has relied on Him to get her through these past several years. And she prayed for me.

I have great faith. My testimony in my Savior is strong. Christianity is the guiding principle in my life. But I usually wait for some signal that I’m talking to a Christian before I offer my conviction of that.

That should change.

I need to be more like Donna, and so many of my other Christian friends. I need to not just hope people notice the light of Jesus Christ through me, but testify of His light in my life, share the hope and joy I have through Him, tell others openly and boldly that He is the One that sustains me, and pray with and for them to feel His love and strength, as well.

I want to be like Donna.
