Update: So much has happened since the last update, but I know no more than I did before, except that the roads between here and the south side of Kansas City are riddled with potholes, and warmer weather is a beautiful relief.
I’m so blessed with great doctors, modern medicine, a really attentive husband, very nice pain pills, great insurance, and lots of people who love me.
I had a bone marrow biopsy this morning. With anesthesia, it wasn’t bad at all. I’ll feel bruised for a few days, at least. In the past 10 days, I’ve had 8 different kinds of tests, and only have two left to get before they can figure out what stage my cancer is in, the risk factors, and how the treatment should proceed.
Tomorrow, I start taking two meds to strengthen my bones/prevent bone weakness, which Multiple Myeloma causes.
I won’t start taking the actual cancer therapy (the “new” chemotherapy is now called induction therapy😜) until after the next meeting with my oncologist and the staging, etc, which is on Feb 22.
My arm is healing well and I’m able to do lots more with my left arm and hand than I have been able to since early December. That’s such a nice change! I’m doing PT to get my strength and movement back.
I’ve started feeling the actual “cancer pain”, so that’s not very fun, but I’m still doing ok.
That’s all that’s really going on. I have a lot of unknown territory ahead of me, but life as I know it is very good. And the groundhog saw his shadow, so maybe spring will be here soon. I predict March 21.
